His Holiness' Birthday Function
A felicitation ceremony on the 74th anniversary of His Holiness The Dalai Lama's birth was held at Mavlankar Hall in New Delhi on July 6, 2009. The function themed "50 years of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in India: A tribute of gratitude from the people of Himalayan region on the occasion of His Holiness the Dalai Lama's 74th birthday” was organised by Himalayan Buddhist Cultural Association, Delhi in collaboration with All Buddhist Organisation of Himalayan Region.
Former President of India, Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam, Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal, Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Mr. Drojee Khandu, Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh; Mr. Omar Abdullah, Union Minister and former Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir and Mr. D N Takarpa. Minister of Health and Animal Husbandry of Sikkim were amongst the honourable guests present to felicitate His Holiness.
Speaking at the function, His Holiness remarked lightheartedly that the prayers being said for him by his well wishers might help him live at least 100 years. |
