Democracy in Exile
Around 2000 people including the visiting French senator's delegation, Tibetan parliamentary members, and ministers of Tibetan government in exile gathered at the main temple in Dharamshala, India, Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2009 to commemorate the 49th anniversary of the Tibetan democratic system of governance which was introduced in 1960 by the His Holiness the Dalai Lama. The occasion saw a colourful mix of spirited, traditional song and dance, as well as speeches from the Tibetan cabinet, parliament and as well as the French senator's delegation. |
